Vaping Devices

How Big Tobacco Got a New Generation Hooked, by Alex Bogusky. This editorial is about the new trend on smoking with a vape. Teenagers these days think that smoking is cool, better yet they call it vaping. After reading this article I learned that these new devices used contain way more nicotine than regular cigarettes. A lot of people are hooked to these devices without knowing it may be just as harmful as cigarettes. One day a group of teens came in to the restaurant I work at and I saw everyone had a e-cig laying on the table. At first I thought it was cool but now it seems this may be a bigger problem than we thought. The CDC says that vaping rose by 80% among high school students this is an ongoing epidemic. A nicotine addiction is from the population means that it is not going away but it is being marketed as a better way of transforming the regular cigs.

Voting 2020 Critique

On the blog https://christhianusgovernment.blogspot.com Voting 2020 by Chisthian, it is about reminding people to vote for the right person who deserves to be president. Until we know for sure who will be the running candidates we can learn more about them and their views. He wants to make sure everyone is staying up to date on the candidates so that we can go out and vote.
Even though he mentions the candidates running, he doesn’t mention any important dates that we should know about. A little more information on elections should be given by him so that we can stay informed. Also, since he wants to inform the public about the importance on voting he should provide any resources that can help people.

I believe he was short on the topic and could have provided more information on the background from the candidates. Not everyone is familiar with the current candidates that are running.

The Real Horror of the Anti-Vaxxers

Article written by Frank Bruni, https://nyti.ms/2EZAcjg.

There has recently been a public crisis outbreak on diseases that could easily have been prevented by a vaccine readily available to the public. There are many parents of children who are against vaccines and choose to opt out. This has led to a health crisis that could potentially grow into a national crisis.

As Frank mentions in his article, anti-vaxxers are not engaged in debates and mostly in the shadows. This article was written to persuade the readers that vaccine resistance is due to people not being informed and the effect social media has on others.
People “are abandoning traditional sources of information, from the government to the institutional media, in favor of a D.I.Y. approach to fact-finding.” Wrote Jonathan Mahler. I strongly agree with both of the authors viewpoints of the fact that the internet is filled with false misleading information that changes the people perception of things.

The author gave us several points to inform us why anti-vaxxers choose not to vaccinate, and some powerful people who have done it, regret it at a later time. In the end whether or not to vaccine is a person decision, but when you put others at risk that is something that should not be accepted. This leads me to wonder if the government has a right to step in and force us to vaccinate.
